What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique that promotes health and wellness, balance and harmony, and healing. It is gentle and non-invasive, and done by a simple laying on of hands. It is based on the belief that we can tap into Universal Life Force Energy that surrounds and flows through us and all living things. When this energy is low, we feel tired, stressed, and can become physically ill. Reiki helps to boost life force energy, which helps us to feel more vital, have more energy and endurance, and we then are less prone to illness and disease.

Reiki practitioners use a series of hand positions on a fully-clothed person laying on a massage table. The hand positions include working on the head, neck, shoulders, abdomen,  knees, back, and feet. Hand positions can be done on the body or over the body. Reiki practitioners are also trained to send Reiki at a distance to a person. In this way, Reiki is again like prayer in that you do not need to have a person physically present in order to pray for him or her. A Reiki practitioner can send healing energy not only at a distance but back in time to heal an issue or forward in time to help manifest good results. For example, we often send Reiki in advance of a surgery intending the surgery be a success.

Reiki works by releasing blockages in the aura and in and around the organs that disrupt the flow of chi or energy. After blockages are released, the Reiki practitioner fills in the area with the higher vibrational energy of Reiki. It is a deeply relaxing treatment, and promotes health and wellness on all levels - mind, body, and spirit.

The results one can receive vary by session and individual. The more that the receiver intends to be open to the energy, the more the energy will flow. Most people feel deeply relaxed and sleep better after a Reiki session. They also feel more peaceful and happy.
